Join us in congratulating White Oak resident Jemiah Davidson for receiving the Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship! The Gordon L. Blackwell is one of seven scholarships currently offered through the CARH Scholarship Foundation. These sought after scholarships provide exceptional students residing in CARH-member properties financial support while they continue pursuing educational opportunities. Upon receiving their scholarship, recipients are asked to present a speech at the Annual CARH meeting in Washington, DC. “Affordable housing offers stability, it gave my mother peace of mind to pursue better job opportunities and provide a nurturing environment for my brother and I. It plays a vital role in fostering strong sense of community. When people from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses are able to live together, it creates an inclusive environment where neighbors support and uplift one another…Together, let’s advocate for affordable housing as an essential element of building vibrant and resilient neighborhoods for generations to come.”

Jemiah graduated high school with honors in 2023 and is currently pursuing a degree in Forensic Anthropology at Western Carolina University. We wish Jemiah the best as she continues to pursue her education and make the world a better place!
